A Pedicure is Affordable Pampering
A pedicure can be a wonderful form of pampering, and can lift your spirits and sooth your aching feet at the same time.
If you need a little pampering, a pedicure can be the perfect way to indulge yourself without breaking the bank. It always feels good to take care of your feet -- and it can rejuvenate your entire body and give your spirits a lift. In addition to the typical grooming of the feet, there are also some other pedicure options you may want to consider trying.
Hot stone therapy can help add a relaxing touch to a pedicure. If you enjoy hot stone therapy in a regular massage, chances are you will love it on your feet. If you have never tried it, you may want to see what all the fuss is about.
If you are an athlete, are on your feet all day, or simply suffer from aches and pains you may want to try a hot paraffin treatment (warm wax). A paraffin treatment has therapeutic benefits and can really help ease feet that have been in pain. It also helps lock in moisture. Since feet can get quite dry this is a great option in the winter months. Older people or those with foot problems, like diabetics, can greatly benefit from this, but it's a pedicure treat for anyone.
Those who love aromatherapy may want to choose a peppermint foot scrub, or another scented aromatherapy pedicure treatment. This refreshes and rejuvenates feet while also getting rid of smelly foot odor. You can add a gentle salt scrub or similar type of scrub in place of the standard pumice stone. These can be very invigorating and help slough off dead skin to reveal younger-looking, softer skin.
For a "pick-me-up" there is nothing quite like getting your toenails painted after a soothing pedicure. Choose a color that lifts your spirits and don't be afraid to experiment. If you want a little extra pampering, schedule a manicure as well. Getting both done on the same day can be a real treat -- and still be reasonable in terms of your budget. And if you're looking for a special gift that is sure to be appreciated, you can't go wrong with gifting a pedicure
Some Tips:
- Items to bring with you include: a pair of open-toed shoes, like thongs or sandals with fully open toes; nail polish, a favorite book or magazine and if you wish, cash (for the tip).
- Allow a full hour for a basic pedicure (and more for add-on services).. You don’t want to rush it and you’ll want to make sure your toes are completely dry before leaving.
- Bear in mind that you’ll be sitting in an open area with your feet up in the air. Short skirts may lead to embarrassing situations, and tight-legged pants may be difficult to roll up adequately. Plan your outfit accordingly!
